history:when brittany newman found out she was pregnant she thought her world had ended. at sixteen years old she wasn't ready to take on the responsibilty of a child, nor was she willing to. telling her parents was difficult, brittant had always been a handful but they never expected this of her, she couldn't even tell them who the father was. her mother was completely against abortion, but brittany didn't want to keep the baby so they agreed on adoption. the family found a nice couple in california who were looking to adopt for the third time. miranda had been left infertile after becoming ill with ovarian cancer in her twenties, she and her husband, stephen, already had adopted two little boys and were now looking to add to their family.
nine months later brittany gave birth to a little girl, she was almost instantly handed over to stephen and miranda who took her from hawaii to california, brittany never saw her daughter. the couple named her kimberly jane, but from very early on they affectionatly called her kimber. the alridge's were a comfortable fiancially and were able to support their children. kimber grew up following her two brothers jackson and harley everywhere, she showed no interest in playing barbies and dress up, she was more into playing with toy cars and building forts in the back garden. kimber had a happy upbringing and her parents never hid the fact from their children that they were adopted and that meant that jackson, harley and kimber were very open about their adoption. miranda called them the rainbow family and encourage that all her children to be proud of who they are.
when kimber was ten miranda and stephen adopted a baby girl from korea, they named her maddison and from day on kimber adored her. this was when kimber's more motherly side started to come out for she was, and still is, fiercly protective over little maddie. during her school years she was an average student, she didn't enjoy every aspect of school and was better in some areas than others - socialising for instance. she, however, did hope that one day she might go to college, this ambition became more real when harley went off to study law. keen to follow in similar footsteps kimber really knuckled down at school for her last year, while she didn't graduate top of the class she did well enough. the next fall she was being driven to her college of choice by a very tearful mother and father to study english and american literature. she absolutley loved her first year, she made loads of new friends and really threw herself into college life. in someways she was sad to have to come home for the summer, but seeing her friends and family from home soon sorted that out. now she's here to enjoy the summer before returning to college for her sophmore year.

role play example:ELLA didn't get out much these days, she had become confined to the land of the merch tents. she had lost contact with the outside world, seriously she knew nothing of current affairs - not that she ever had a good grasp on them back home - and she'd missed she doesn't know how many episodes of the hills. it was like she had been living in her own little bubble where all that mattered was selling t shirts and making sure you dodge the port-a-loo with no handle. life had become a set routine, she'd wake up, she open the tent, lay out some t shirts and then spend the day arguing with silly kids over the prices, then she's pack up and if she and her brother were having a good day she might go back to his bus and have a beer with him, if not would head off to bed. trips to starbucks, like this one ella was currently on, were a rare break from the schedule. but ella had been instructed by a friend to get off site for half an hour, and sent her off with the directions to the nearest starbucks.
SAD though it was, ella could not help but feel excited as the recognizable logo for starbucks came into view. she was grinning like a cheshire cat as she went to push the door open. but just a slight problem, it wouldn't open. ella took a step back and groaned, she had been looking forward to her caramel frappacino all day, it couldn't be closed! she took a step forward again and put her hands up against the glass as she peered in. she could see people in there, so why wasn't the damn door opening? she tried again, this time nearly ramming her whole body into the door, but again it would not budge. she was about to try again when one of the guys sitting nearest the door started waving his arms at her. she paused and watched him but he quickly stopped, either out of embarrassment or the belief that ella had got the message. still slightly confused ella went for the door again, but this time she noticed something she hand not previously seen, a large sign that said 'PULL'.
IT was times like these that made ella wish the ground would just sallow her whole. she stood, loitering at the door, debating whether to go in or turn around and run straight back home. however, ella lack one thing, dignity. and it was this lack of dignity that finally made ella pull the door open dramatically and stride into the coffee shop head held high. only to trip on a small step she did not see and nearly go flying. as she straightened herself up ella wished desperately that she had a friend here with whom she could laugh it off loudly with so the whole place knew that she didn't care. but due to lack of a friend ella had to quickly make her way to the counter, with her head bowed just to make sure she didn't miss any objects that may cause her to trip. she order her drink, along with a blueberry muffin to cheer herself up and made her way across the shop to find a seat. just her luck she had arrived when it was at it's busiest and there did not seem to be a seat free in the house. just then she saw two businessman get up from a table, the moment they left their seats ella was in them. they had left their mugs and plates, but ella swept them to one side unphased and placed down her drink and muffin. settled she then took the biggest bite into her blueberry muffin, and as the sweet taste filled her mouth the world suddenly seems alright again.
